Nighttime Ascent Event Rules:
Exclusive Registration:
Participation in Nighttime Ascent is only available to Arbofest registrants.
Places are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Ensure your participation by filling out the registration form as soon as possible.
Necessary Equipment:
All competitors must bring their own safety equipment, including a CE or CA certified climbing harness with back and chest drag points, helmet, goggles and ascenders.
Equipment will be inspected by the event organizers prior to the competition. If the equipment is deemed to not offer adequate safety, the competitor will not be allowed to use it. The organizers may provide equipment suitable for use IN case of non-approval of the competitor's equipment.
Ropes and Safety:
The organization will provide all necessary climbing ropes.
Each competitor will use the main rope for climbing, in addition to a safety rope equipped with a blocker on the back.
Climbing Lighting:
As the event takes place at night, competitors are encouraged to bring a flashing LED to attach to their safety harnesses, and wear clothing that reacts to black light to make their climbs more visible and exciting.
Competition Procedure:
Each competitor must have at least one foot on the ground before the start of the climb, being fully equipped and ready to go.
The stopwatch will be started when the horn sounds and will be stopped when the competitor rings the bell at the top, indicating the end of the climb.
If the competitor does not reach the top within 120 seconds, the competitor will be asked to descend.
The competition will be of the "all against all" type, where each competitor will try to complete the climb in the shortest time possible.
